Hi, I’m Nuno. Welcome to my blog.

This blog an attempt to think out loud honestly about what it actually feels like to lead, work, and make decisions as AI becomes part of our everyday professional life. More specifically, it is about the transition many of us are in right now, moving toward becoming more AI-Powered in our own work and in the work of the teams we lead.

I do not have all the answers. No one does.

What I do have are over 28 years of day-to-day IT experience implementing technology of many kinds and several years studying and using AI in real work personally and with teams of professionals. As an IT consultant since 2007 and an AI practitioner, entrepreneur, mentor, and speaker, I’ve worked with Harvard, Northeastern University, Boston College, and UMASS and many companies to build solutions and systems that go beyond mere tools.

For me, it’s about unlocking human potential and transforming how we do our work. I’m passionate about the intersection of AI, education, and entrepreneurship, always looking for ways to use technology to help people learn, grow, and thrive.

I use AI daily. I research AI daily. I have conversations daily with leaders and teams who are trying implement AI. I also use AI to assist in the creation of content for this blog. Don’t get me wrong. The content is mine, but I use AI for research, brainstorming, testing ideas, drafting early versions of posts, and creating practical tools meant to help you take action…. always double-checking its output and infusing it with my personal insights, opinions and experiences. That process itself is part of what I am learning as I move toward becoming more AI-Powered. I am constantly thinking about what works, what does not, where AI genuinely helps, and where human judgment, context, and responsibility still matter most.

The goal of this blog is to share my experiences, questions, missteps, and insights, to share experiences of those I work with (where permitted), and to learn alongside people who want to become more AI-Powered themselves, while also helping their teams do the same in thoughtful, responsible ways.

If you are here, you are probably not looking for hype or certainty. You are just looking for a bit more clarity, perspective, and a way forward that supports becoming more AI-Powered without sacrificing trust, judgment, or people.

I need your feedback and involvement to make this work. What resonates, what feels off, what is missing, and what would be most useful to explore next all help shape future articles and improve existing ones.

That is what I am trying to build here, together.

A bit more about my journey

Growing up, cultural and religious pressures discouraged me from pursuing higher education. After years of uncertainty, I decided to pursue a degree in Information Systems while “balancing” family and low-wage jobs. That was followed by an MBA focused on High Tech. After about 10 years working at a large consulting company and a corporate job, I founded Optimal Campus Consulting.

Overcoming my own barriers taught me the power of persistence and empathy. I’m committed not just to tech solutions, but to uplifting those around me and the world itself. Whether guiding projects at the largest universities or helping a small college streamline its learning platforms, I focus on creating positive change, making it easier for students, educators, and staff within Higher Ed and beyond to connect, learn, and succeed.

I believe in giving back. Mentoring startups, supporting startup incubators, and sponsoring community-driven events like Startup Weekend by Tech Stars/Google are ways I share what I’ve learned. By helping others build confidence and skills, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, I hope to spark innovation and nurture new voices in technology.

Born in the Azores and now splitting my time between Boston and Toronto, I’ve found that experiences matter more than belongings. Embracing a minimalist, mobile life for many years, from RV workspaces to international travel, has freed me to focus on what’s important: family, meaningful work, and contributing to something larger than myself.

If you engage with my blog, you’ll find down-to-earth guidance on AI trends, practical strategies for implementing new technologies, and thoughtful perspectives on managing the human side of change. Whether you’re an individual professional looking to streamline your work or a leader guiding an entire organization, I want to help you feel informed, prepared, and confident as you navigate the evolving world of AI.

I hope my journey and perspectives offer you useful ideas, a bit of encouragement, and the spark you need to move forward on your own path.
